Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft Fw190, Me262, etc. von Breitenbuch, this is probably a late 60s design and the civil version of the DF 7x40 which was probably the first Zeiss Jena development after the war and the standard glass for the NVA.The name Septarem was stolen from the Zeiss 7x50H Septarem. Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. The manufacture code, “ksd”, is stamped into the side, as well as a 1943 date. The case is original to this set, but there is some slight wear and marks throughout. The body of these binoculars is a most unusual shape, while the. Bearing the Kriegsmarine insignia, these binoculars were utilized by the German navy as anti-aircraft spotters. Also comes with the original strap, but I do not see any manufacture markings. These most interesting WWII Carl Zeiss Jena Kreigsmarine steel and brass 8 x 60 binoculars were manufactured by Carl Zeiss, Jena. Features a gradient/targetting scale in the left lens. The rubber is a bit deformed in areas, but still quite soft and flexible. These can be moved back approx 10mm, and allow the wearer to use the binoculars with or without the mask. Features the RARE Kriegsmarine Eye Piece fittings, as well as rubber Gas Mask end pieces.
1940 CARL ZEISS JENA BINOCULARS SERIAL
The left side is marked with a prominent Kriegsmarine Adler, the serial number, “2074503” (indicating they were made in 1940). The RARE feature is that rather than the stnadard black crackle finish, this pair is wrapped in LEATHER! Specifically issued to Searchlight and Sound Locator units, the right side is body marked. Made of aluminum, brass, and steel by Carl Zeiss Jena, these 7 x 50 power binoculars are in EXCELLENT used condition! The lens bodies retain about 95% of their original, finish, and the aluminum end piece fittings are 100% intact! The focus adjustments still function perfectly on both eye pieces and the optics are still VERY clear, though a bit foggy (objective lenses are a dirty). Though this type was the standard, specialized personnel required stinger optics, and were issues to personnel on a limited basis.
Used by Navy Search Light and Sound Locator units, these feature the RARE gas mask rubber eye cups, and the original case! The German Army and Navy used a wide variety of optical equipment, including a 6×30 (6 power magnification with 30mm objective lens), 7×50, 8×30, 10×50 and others, being the standard issued optics used by all branches of service.
